The Fabian Plan is a proprietary mechanical trend-following approach to stock market investing. Instead of using guesswork, predictions, forecasts, or emotions, we base our investment decisions solely on the established trend of the market. Our investment vehicle is exchange traded funds (ETFs). We’ve found in our research and trading experience that the most accurate tools for trend identification are the Wilshire 5000, our Domestic Fund Composite, and a 39-week moving average.
A strong or rising market is indicated when the current prices of our indicators are higher than their 39-week averages. A weak or falling market is indicated when the current prices are lower than their 39-week averages. This simple comparison -- the current price to the 39-week average -- reveals the current trend of the market and forms the basis of our trading rules.
Simply put, we're in the market when it's going up, and we're out of the market when it's going down.

Doug Fabian’s Mutual Fund Lemon List looks at all the stock funds on the market today and compares them to their appropriate benchmarks. If they underperform their benchmark for the past year, three years and five years, they go on the list.
Doug Fabian is the editor of Successful Investing and High Monthly Income and is the host of the syndicated radio show, "Doug Fabian's Wealth Strategies."
Doug is known as one of the safest, most conservative investment advisors in the business. He’s beaten the market consistently and kept his subscribers’ assets from harm in bear markets by following The Fabian Plan, which has produced an average of double-digit annualized gains in the past 30+ years. In recent years, he made the revolutionary shift from recommending mutual funds to exchange traded funds (ETFs). He started moving investors into ETFs long before most others recognized their strength and value.
