ETFs for the AAII

Over the weekend, I spoke to the Los Angeles chapter of the American Association of Individual Investors (AAII). There was a great turnout for this event, and judging by the feedback I received from the audience, the topic really resonated with attendees.
 
My presentation was all about the growth of exchange-traded funds (ETFs), and the latest innovations in this burgeoning investment class. A big part of my presentation was a PowerPoint presentation highlighting some of the newest trends in the industry. The PowerPoint slides I used during my talk can be accessed here.
 
This week, I want to share some key tables with you, as I think they shed a lot of light on the equity markets in general here.
 
The table below shows Top 10 ETFs by assets:
 
 
As you can see, broad-based domestic equities, gold and emerging markets topped the list of asset grabbers. This tells us that investors want to buy stocks both here and in growth markets, and they also have a big taste for gold.
